| 背面描述 | A three-quarter facing portrait of Sir Winston Churchill dominates the field, depicted wearing his characteristic bowler hat and pinstripe suit, with a cigar at his lips, rendered in a bold typographic style by designer Stephen Raw. Behind the figure, a large numeral '150' is integrated into the background design, referencing the 150th anniversary of Churchill's birth. A rectangular cartouche in the upper left bears the inscription 'SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL' in raised lettering, while the dates '1874–1965' appear vertically along the left side of the design. The overall composition combines illustrative portraiture with graphic typography, giving the reverse a distinctly modern aesthetic within the heptagonal flan. |

Alderney holds a particular claim on Churchill's memory that most commemorative issuers cannot match: the island was occupied by German forces from 1940 to 1945, its civilian population having been evacuated just before the fall of France. Churchill's decision to leave the Channel Islands undefended — prioritizing mainland resources — remains contested, but it spared Alderney the street-by-street fighting that would have destroyed it entirely.
The States of Alderney has issued Churchill commemoratives across multiple formats since the 1990s, making this 2024 five-ounce piece one entry in a long-running series rather than a singular tribute.
