Additional information

The Windrush Generation commemorative marks the 75th anniversary of HMT Empire Windrush's arrival at Tilbury Docks in June 1948, carrying roughly 500 Caribbean migrants — though the actual number aboard remains debated, with manifests suggesting closer to 492 ticketed passengers. The broader Windrush scandal, which broke publicly in 2018, saw hundreds of Commonwealth citizens wrongly detained, deported, or denied NHS treatment after the Home Office destroyed landing cards dating to that era.

The Royal Mint issued this piece during the first full year of Charles III's reign, making it one of the earliest definitive commemoratives to carry his effigy.
