| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a celebratory scene commemorating Victory in Europe Day, 8 May 1945. To the left, a bold shield-shaped cartouche bears the inscription VE DAY / 8 MAY 1945 in large block lettering, set against radiating sunburst lines that emanate across the upper field. To the right, the Victoria Memorial monument in London is rendered in detailed relief, with its crowning Winged Victory figure and the seated allegorical figures at its base clearly delineated. The lower portion of the field is filled with a densely engraved crowd of celebrating figures waving flags, evoking the historic jubilation outside Buckingham Palace. No additional peripheral legend appears on the reverse. |
