| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by Mike Guilfoyle, commemorates the 80th anniversary of VE Day through a bold, newspaper-inspired graphic composition evoking the jubilant scenes of 8 May 1945. Dominating the upper field is the bold headline THIS IS YOUR VICTORY above the large masthead legend VE-DAY!, flanked by figures reading newspapers against a background featuring the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. The denomination 50p appears to the right of the central masthead. At the base of the field, a further legend reads VE DAY. "READ ALL ABOUT IT!" in period-style lettering, evoking the cries of newspaper vendors on Victory in Europe Day. |
