| Reverse description | A highly detailed, selectively gold-plated depiction of the funerary death mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun dominates the central field, rendered in bold relief with the nemes headdress, false beard, and broad collar all highlighted in gold gilding. Surrounding the central mask motif is a border of Egyptian hieroglyphic cartouches and symbols arranged in vertical panels on either side, evoking the decorative programme of ancient Egyptian art. The legend 1922 ~ TUTANKHAMUN ~ 2022 arcs across the upper portion of the coin, commemorating the centenary of Howard Carter's discovery of the tomb. The denomination FIFTY PENCE is inscribed in a straight legend along the lower margin. The combination of frosted silver fields and selective gold plating creates a striking two-tone proof presentation. |
