| Obverse description | Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, modelled by Martin Jennings, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The portrait depicts the King with naturally styled hair and a bare neck, in the contemporary official style adopted for British Commonwealth coinage. The Pobjoy Mint initials 'PM' appear in small incuse lettering at the lower right of the portrait. The circumferential legend reads 'BRITISH ANTARCTIC TERRITORY · 2023 · KING CHARLES III · 50 PENCE · PM', disposed around the full periphery of the heptagonal flan. |

Trinity College, Cambridge received its royal charter from Henry VIII in 1544, consolidating two earlier colleges he effectively dissolved to create it. The British Antarctic Territory, though a legitimate UK Overseas Territory with its own administration, has long issued collector coins under Crown authority — pieces that will never see Antarctic ice, let alone circulation.
The KM#66a designation distinguishes this silver striking from a base-metal companion issue.
