Part of a licensed series issued by Guernsey commemorating the 60th anniversary of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds, which first broadcast on ITV in September 1965. Anderson developed the series using his "Supermarionation" puppet technique, a process he had refined across earlier productions including Stingray and Fireball XL5. Guernsey has issued numerous third-party licensed commemoratives of this kind — collectibles aimed squarely at the secondary market rather than circulation.
