The King's Trust — formerly The Prince's Trust — was rebranded following Charles III's accession in 2022, retaining its core mission of supporting young people facing disadvantage. The charity was founded by Charles in 1976 using his £7,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy. This commemorative 50p marks fifty years of that organization, a relatively rare instance of a reigning monarch issuing coinage to celebrate a charity he personally founded.
