Reverse description The reverse presents a composition of three Second World War campaign medals suspended from a horizontal medal bar, rendered in fine detail against a hatched ribbon background filling the upper portion of the field. To the left hangs the six-pointed 1939–1945 Star, bearing the crowned royal cypher GRI VI within a central roundel and the inscription THE 1939–1945 STAR around its rim. At centre and right are depicted the obverse faces of two George VI coins serving as medal centres: the left shows the bare-headed effigy of George VI with the legend GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP, while the right displays the crowned and robed effigy with the legend GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP. Below the medal group, in bold incuse lettering across three lines, appears the inscription STORIES OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR; the designer's initials TN are present in the lower right field.
