Reverse description A highly detailed and dramatic depiction of a Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii) dominates the reverse field, rendered in fine relief with meticulous attention to the creature's distinctive long shaggy coat, massive curving tusks, and robust musculature. The composition portrays the animal in a three-quarter facing pose, its raised trunk lending a sense of animated power, with steppe vegetation including grasses and flowering plants rendered at the lower left and lower right of the field. The engraver's initials RN appear in small letters to the lower right of the design, beside the botanical motif. The legend MAMMUTHUS curves along the upper periphery in capital letters, while STEPPE MAMMOTH is inscribed along the lower border, both legends following the heptagonal contour of the coin.
