Jersey issues commemorative 50 pence pieces with some regularity, but this Saint David release marks one of the first in the series to appear under Charles III following his accession in September 2022. Saint David is the patron saint of Wales, not Jersey, making his appearance on a Bailiwick issue a deliberate gesture toward pan-British devotional tradition rather than local identity.
