Jersey has issued commemorative 50 pence pieces under royal license for decades, but the volume of gold-plated issues released around the 2022 accession of Charles III was remarkable even by that standard — the States of Jersey mint moved quickly to capitalize on collector demand in the months following the Queen's death. Windsor Castle, as the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and Charles III's preferred weekend residence, was an obvious subject choice, though it sits in Berkshire rather than on Jersey itself, making the geographic connection purely dynastic.
