The Diamond Jubilee State Coach was commissioned in 2012 to mark Elizabeth II's sixtieth year on the throne and completed that same year — a remarkable turnaround for a vehicle of its complexity. Built by the Royal Mews workshops, it incorporated timbers from HMS Victory, stone from Edinburgh Castle, and metal from a First World War memorial, making it one of the most materially symbolic carriages ever constructed for the Crown. It carried Charles III to his coronation in May 2023, its first major ceremonial deployment under a new monarch.
