| 背面描述 | The central device depicts the official flag of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, bearing the letters RNLI arranged across a divided banner and surmounted by a royal crown, with an admiralty anchor below. The flag is framed within a lifebuoy rendered in high relief, with coiled ropes extending around the perimeter of the coin. The inscription 200 YEARS arcs above, while the commemorative dates 1824 and 2024 appear to the lower left and lower right respectively, marking the bicentenary of the RNLI. The engraver's initials JB appear in the lower right field. |

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution was founded in 1824 by Sir William Hillary, who himself participated in rescue operations off the Isle of Man well into his sixties. It remains funded entirely by voluntary contributions — no government money — a fact that makes a Royal Mint commemorative issue something of an irony, given the RNLI's deliberate independence from state support across its two-century history.
