| Reverse description | Central depiction of Professor Yaffle, the irascible carved wooden woodpecker bookend from the BBC children's television series Bagpuss, rendered in a stylised illustrative manner after the original artwork. Yaffle stands upright before a large open book, his characteristic long beak and spectacles prominently detailed. Four small mouse figures from the Bagpuss mouse organ are distributed around the field — two in the upper register and two in the lower register — each finely modelled. The denomination 50p appears at the base of the design, and the character's celebrated catchphrase FIDDLE STICKS & FLAP DOODLE is inscribed in a multi-line legend to the right of the central motif. |
