The Loricatosaurus — a stegosaurid whose remains were excavated from the Oxford Clay Formation in Oxfordshire — is one of the few large dinosaurs with significant fossil material recovered from British soil, which is the entire justification for this series. The selective colour printing on circulation-spec copper-nickel is applied post-strike, a process the Isle of Man Treasury has used repeatedly to produce variants that register as distinct catalogue entries without retooling the dies.
KM#1795.1 distinguishes the colourised issue from its uncoloured counterpart.
