| Obverse description | Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III, sculpted by Martin Jennings, occupying the central field of the heptagonal flan. The portrait depicts the King in a naturalistic, contemporary style with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 50 PENCE · 2024, interrupted by raised dot separators, running clockwise around the periphery. The engraver's initials MJ appear in small characters in the lower right field, just below the truncation of the portrait. The design continues the Royal Mint's established standard portrait tradition for the reign of Charles III. |
