Additional information

Part of the Royal Mint's Natural History Museum series, this piece belongs to a collaboration that began in 2020 and has issued several dinosaur-themed 50p coins tied to specimens held in the London collections. The Diplodocus in question is almost certainly a nod to "Dippy," the cast that stood in the Natural History Museum's Hintze Hall from 1905 until 2017, when it was replaced by the blue whale skeleton and sent on a national tour.
