Aanvullende informatie

Issued on the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, this piece marks the Resistance networks that fed intelligence to Allied planners in the months before June 1944 — among them the Centurie network, which mapped German coastal defenses along the Atlantic Wall with enough precision to influence landing zone selection. The Isle of Man has no historical connection to the French Resistance, which places this firmly in the commemorative bullion category rather than any civic or institutional tradition.

The selective gilding technique, applied over .925 silver, has been a recurring commercial choice for Isle of Man commemoratives since at least the 1990s.
