(Translation: Charles III by the Grace of God King Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description Three Allied infantrymen in full combat kit, wearing steel helmets and carrying rifles, depicted in dynamic stride as they advance from a landing craft ramp onto the beach, evoking the Normandy landings of 6 June 1944. In the background to the right, additional troops wade ashore from a second landing craft through choppy surf, with smoke rising over buildings on the distant shoreline. Above the soldiers, a formation of military aircraft traverses the upper field. The inscription D-DAY arches across the upper portion of the field, with 6 JUNE 1944 along the right side, while the names of the five Allied assault beaches — UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO, and SWORD — are inscribed along the lower portion of the field.
