Noggin the Nog originated as a BBC radio series in 1959 before moving to television, created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin — the same partnership behind Ivor the Engine, Bagpuss, and The Clangers. Postgate narrated and wrote; Firmin drew. The production budget was famously minimal, with Postgate filming cut-out animations in a converted barn in Kent.
Guernsey has issued prolifically under licensing arrangements for decades, and this piece falls within a broader UK nostalgia series targeting collectors rather than circulation. Postgate died in 2008; Firmin in 2018.
