Bagpuss, created by Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate for the BBC, aired as a single series of thirteen episodes in 1974 and was never recommissioned — yet a 1999 BBC poll named it the most popular children's programme in British television history. The show's production company, Smallfilms, operated out of a barn in Kent with a budget that made frugality an art form.
Guernsey has issued prolifically under the Charles III commemorative programme, with licensed character coins forming a substantial portion of recent output.
