The Falkland Islands have issued annual Christmas 50 pence pieces since 1974, making this one of the longer-running seasonal coin series from any British Overseas Territory. Penguins are among the most commercially viable subjects the islands can put on a coin — the archipelago hosts five breeding species, and the imagery sells.
This is the first Christmas issue to bear Charles III's effigy following the accession of September 2022.
