| Additional information |
Pitcairn remains one of the most logistically isolated inhabited territories on earth — resupply ships call perhaps a dozen times a year, and the island has no airstrip. Coins issued under its authority have never circulated there in any meaningful sense; the economy runs on barter, fishing, and honey sales. This piece exists entirely for the philatelic and numismatic export market, a revenue stream the island's roughly fifty residents depend on.
