Additional information

The national anthem's opening line was famously changed for the first time in over 70 years when Charles III acceded in September 2022 — "God Save the King" replacing lyrics that had been sung for the entirety of Elizabeth II's reign. This coin was struck in the immediate wake of that transition, part of a wave of Manx issues that flooded the commemorative market during the accession period. The Isle of Man, a Crown dependency with its own issuing authority, has historically been among the most prolific producers of such commemoratives.
