Beschrijving voorzijde Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, sculpted in high relief with naturalistic detailing of the hair and features, after the portrait by Glyn Davies. The circumferential legend reads 'KING CHARLES III · ISLE OF MAN' around the upper arc, with the date '2023' inscribed in the lower field beneath the portrait. The design occupies the full heptagonal flan with a polished mirror field.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse, engraved by Tom Meek, features the heraldic Royal Beasts of England — a rampant lion and a rearing unicorn — positioned to the left of the design in dynamic, sculptural relief. To the right, a stylised fragment of the British National Anthem text is rendered as an artistic centrepiece. The denomination '50p' and the inscription 'GOD SAVE THE KING' appear as the principal legends, with selective gold plating applied to highlight key design elements against the silver-finished field.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued in the months following Charles III's accession in September 2022, this piece marks the first use of "God Save the King" as the British national anthem in over seventy years — the last time the male form was sung was during the final months of Elizabeth II's father, George VI, who died in February 1952. The Isle of Man, a Crown dependency with its own coining tradition, has long issued commemorative 50 pence pieces outside the UK's Royal Mint remit.

The selective gold plating over a silver-plated copper-nickel core is a layered finish technique increasingly common in Isle of Man commemoratives from this period.
