| Description du revers | A vibrantly colourised European robin (Erithacus rubecula) is depicted in full frontal view at the centre of the field, its characteristic orange-red breast rendered in bold selective colour print contrasting against a white lower plumage. The bird perches among lush holly branches laden with red berries and dark green spiked leaves, which fill the lower and lateral portions of the design in full colour. Behind the robin, two bare winter trees are depicted in relief against a pale blue sky field. The denomination 'FIFTY PENCE' is inscribed in raised letters arcing across the upper portion of the design, partially overlaid by the tree branches. The overall composition presents a festive, naturalistic Christmas scene executed in detailed polychrome colour printing over a milled copper-nickel flan. |
