Opmerkingen

The "Neai Drachmai" designation marks this note as part of the 1953 redenomination, in which one new drachma replaced 1,000 old drachmai — a direct consequence of the hyperinflationary destruction the Greek currency suffered during and immediately after the Axis occupation of 1941–44. The redenomination was tied to Greece's entry into the Bretton Woods fixed exchange rate system that same year.

Printed in-house at the Bank of Greece's own facility in Athens, the P#185 series ran through multiple signature varieties, of which 185D reflects a later signing combination. Signature-based sub-varieties in this series are frequently mislabeled in collections.
