Hasbro introduced the MEGA Edition in 2007 as a variant designed to accelerate gameplay, expanding the standard property set and requiring a larger denomination range to match. The 50 Monopoly Dollar note fills a mid-tier slot in that expanded currency stack, bridging denominations not present in the classic 1935 set.
Not legal tender in any jurisdiction, obviously — but genuine Monopoly currency does attract a small collector niche, particularly complete sets from discontinued editions.
