备注

Officers' Mess scrip from Australian military units in the Middle East theater is among the most historically specific ephemera to survive the Second World War. The 4th Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment was deployed to the Western Desert and Syria during 1941–42, and mess tokens of this type were issued internally to regulate canteen credit — a practical solution to the chaos of field currency, where official exchange rates shifted and local coin was perpetually scarce.

Few pieces from regimental messes of this specificity made it home. Most were redeemed, destroyed, or simply lost in the field.
