| Opmerkingen |
Brazil's transition from empire to republic in November 1889 created an immediate administrative tangle — notes authorized under the imperial Thesouro Nacional continued circulating well into the early republican period, and this sixth print of the 50 Mil Réis belongs squarely in that contested handover zone. The American Bank Note Company had held Brazil's high-value intaglio contracts for decades by this point, and the New York production pipeline meant that political upheaval in Rio had essentially no effect on note delivery schedules.
The "6th print" designation reflects the Brazilian practice of tracking successive plate runs as distinct emissions, useful for distinguishing subtle typographic and paper variations that otherwise look identical to casual inspection.
