| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the People's Republic of Mozambique occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a rising sun, an open book, and a crossed hoe and AK-47 rifle, symbolising education, agriculture, and national defence. The shield is supported by stylised sugarcane stalks on either side, with a star at the apex and waves at the base.
