Comments

Thomas De La Rue has printed virtually all of Turkmenistan's post-independence banknote series, a relationship that dates to the earliest issues of the new manat introduced in 2009 following the currency redenomination that retired the old manat at 5,000 to 1. The 2014 date places this note in the second emission of that series — a relatively early run before later security upgrades were applied to higher denominations.

The security specification here is modest for a mid-denomination note of this period, with no optically variable ink or color-shifting elements recorded. Whether that reflects a cost decision or a deliberate tiering of security by denomination is not documented in available issuing authority records.
