正面描述 Central vignette comprises three intaglio portraits arranged in a composite group: King Moshoeshoe II (left, wearing glasses), King Letsie III (centre, in traditional hat), and Morena Moshoeshoe I (right), each identified by a caption below. The note title "Central Bank of Lesotho" appears in large letterpress text at the top, with the legal tender clause beneath it; the denomination numeral "50" and the word "Maloti" are printed at lower left. A multicolour guilloche underprint incorporating traditional Basotho decorative motifs occupies the background, and a colour-shifting security element appears at the right margin alongside the national arms.

备注

Thomas De La Rue has printed Lesotho's banknotes since the Central Bank's earliest issues in the 1980s, and this series continued that unbroken relationship. Lesotho's currency, pegged at par to the South African Rand under the Common Monetary Area agreement, means the Maloti circulates alongside Rand notes freely within the kingdom — demand for high-denomination paper is accordingly sensitive to whatever inflationary pressures originate in Pretoria rather than Maseru.

The colour-shifting ink on this denomination was a meaningful upgrade for a note at this value, given the CMA's open border circulation and the practical difficulty of authentication outside formal banking channels in rural highland areas.
