Obverse description	Intaglio portrait of King Moshoeshoe I seated in traditional dress at right, staff in hand, set over a multicolour guilloche underprint in light blue and green tones. The national arms of Lesotho, enclosed within a guilloche rosette, appears at centre with the legal tender inscription arcing above; the bank title CENTRAL BANK OF LESOTHO runs across the top. The denomination numeral 50 is rendered in large digits at lower left, with the value FIFTY MALOTI below the arms.

Reverse description	The distinctive pinnacle of Qiloane mountain is rendered in intaglio at left centre against a stylised rolling landscape, with an elaborate multicolour guilloche pattern occupying the upper right portion of the design. A botanical vignette of a flowering plant appears at lower right, while a guilloche rosette enclosing the numeral 50 is positioned at upper right. The denomination numeral 50 is repeated at upper left and lower right corners.
