Descrizione del dritto	Intaglio portrait of President Mobutu Sese Seko within an oval vignette at left center, wearing glasses and a suit; a multicolored guilloche rosette occupies the center with the denomination legend 'CINQUANTE MAKUTA' overprinted across it in red. A leaping leopard vignette appears at lower right, with the Zaire national arms medallion at lower left. The upper border carries the bank title 'BANQUE DU ZAÏRE' flanked by the numeral '50' on a red guilloche panel; an oval cartouche inscribed 'CINQUANTE MAKUTA' appears at lower right, and a Governor's signature with date is printed below the central rosette.

Descrizione del rovescio	At left center, an intaglio vignette within a shaped cartouche shows a traditionally dressed Wagenia tribesman in full regalia, adorned with beadwork and feathered headdress. To the right, a scene illustrates the characteristic Wagenia creel-fishing apparatus — tall wooden pole scaffolding with conical basket traps suspended over the Congo River. A multicolored guilloche rosette at far right carries the numeral '50' and the inscription 'MAKUTA'; the lower border bears 'BANQUE DU ZAÏRE' in bold lettering flanked by '50' numerals, with the printer's imprint 'GIESECKE & DEVRIENT · MUNICH' below. A 'BZ' monogram medallion with guilloche underprint appears at lower left, and the anti-counterfeiting warning 'LE CONTREFACTEUR EST PUNI DE SERVITUDE PENALE' is printed at upper left.
