Opmerkingen

The Imperial Ottoman Bank was a Franco-British joint institution, which makes this 1918 note something of a wartime anomaly — by that point, Britain and France were at war with the Ottoman Empire, and the bank's Western co-directors had long since fled Constantinople. Day-to-day operations had effectively passed to Ottoman and German-aligned management, which is precisely why the printing contract went to the Reichsdruckerei in Berlin rather than the bank's usual European suppliers.

The 50 Livres is the highest denomination of the 1918 series and correspondingly rare in any condition. The Ottoman Empire's collapse came within months of this note's issue.
