Additional information

The Battle of Grunwald — fought on 15 July 1410 — was the largest land battle in medieval European history by most estimates, pitting the Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian coalition against the Teutonic Knights. The decisive defeat of the Order effectively ended its military power in the region and checked German eastward expansion for generations. Lithuania issued commemoratives jointly with Poland for the centennial in 2010, a rare bilateral numismatic collaboration reflecting the two countries' shared stake in the victory's memory.
