Reverse description A standing full-length allegorical figure of Spes (Hope), draped in a long classical robe, faces slightly left and rests one hand upon an anchor—the traditional symbol of hope—positioned at her feet. The denomination 'L·50' appears to the right of the figure in the field, with the silver fineness notation 'Ag 986' inscribed below it. The date '1965' is placed to the left of the figure, beneath which the word 'PROVA' (Italian for 'trial' or 'proof') identifies this piece as a pattern strike. The circular legend 'CITTA' DEL VATICANO' arcs around the upper border, while the word 'SPES' is inscribed along the lower exergue.
