| Reverse description | A balance scale, its central beam forming a Latin cross, is depicted in the field, with the left pan holding a basket of fruits symbolising agriculture and the right pan bearing industrial machinery and tools symbolising industry, set against a cogwheel at the base. The legend CITTA DEL VATICANO arcs along the upper portion of the coin, while the denomination L. 50 is inscribed prominently in the lower field. The mint mark R appears to the left of the denomination. |

| Additional information |
By 1992, Vatican coinage had long been issued in annual sets sold almost exclusively to collectors — genuine circulation was negligible, and Acmonital pieces from this period are routinely found in original mint packaging. The series to which this piece belongs was issued under the pontificate of John Paul II in his fourteenth regnal year, a numbering system the Vatican mint used on annual issues to distinguish otherwise closely related types within the same reign.
