Issued as part of Turkey's ongoing lighthouse series, this piece commemorates the Inceburun Lighthouse at Cape Ince — the northernmost point of the Anatolian landmass, projecting into the Black Sea near Sinop. The cape has marked a navigational hazard for Black Sea shipping since antiquity; Strabo noted the promontory, and Byzantine and Ottoman sailors alike gave it wide berth.
The Darphane's lighthouse series has drawn consistent collector interest domestically, though secondary market premiums remain modest outside Turkey.
