| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a detailed portrait bust of the celebrated Turkish author and nationalist Halide Edip Adıvar, depicted wearing a headscarf, glasses, and a jacket with a scarf at the neck, rendered in high relief against a frosted background. To her left, a row of her literary works is depicted as book spines on a shelf, with titles including 'Döner Ayna', 'Ateşten Gömlek', 'Vurun Kahpeye', 'Volkan Palas Oteli', 'Sinekli Bakkal', and others rendered in miniature lettering. Below the shelf, the subject's name 'HALİDE EDİP ADIVAR' and the commemorative dates '1964-2014' are inscribed in a stylised typewriter-key motif, evoking her literary legacy. The upper left field bears the inscription '50. ÖLÜM YILDÖNÜMÜ' commemorating the 50th anniversary of her death. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Halide Edip Adıvar remains one of the few women who commanded troops in the field during the Turkish War of Independence — she served as a corporal, then sergeant, at the front near İnönü. Her 1928 memoir The Turkish Ordeal, written in English and published abroad before an Ottoman-script edition could exist, was partly a calculated act of international diplomacy during a period when Turkey's postwar legitimacy was still being argued in Western press.
The Darphane has issued a sustained series of commemorative silver pieces honoring figures of the Independence era, of which this is one.
