Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Victory at Dumlupınar in August 1922, the battle that effectively ended the Greco-Turkish War and expelled Greek forces from Anatolia. That engagement, sometimes called the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief, saw Mustafa Kemal personally direct operations from the front — an unusual command decision that carried real personal risk and became central to Republican mythology.
KM#901 was struck in a limited commemorative issue and saw little circulation.
