Reverse description The reverse mirrors the overall layout in the same red-brown palette on a wave-pattern guilloche ground, but carries the German-language text. An octagonal vignette at right repeats the engraved peasant woman with grain sheaf, while a circular stamp impression with an eagle motif occupies the left. The central panel bears the title GELDANWEISUNG ÜBER, the large ornate numeral 50, and the legend LIRE FÜNFZIG, followed by authorising text referencing the Banca d'Italia deposit and the decree of 14 September 1944, above the issuer name SPARKASSE DER PROVINZ LAIBACH and two manuscript signatures under the titles Vorsitzender and Generaldirektor. The anti-counterfeiting warning Nachahmung wird gesetzlich bestraft appears at lower left.

Comments

The Hranilnica Ljubljanske Pokrajine was a savings institution operating under Italian and subsequently German occupation administration in the Province of Ljubljana. This 50 lira note belongs to the 1944 emergency series issued during the chaotic final phase of German control over the region, when the province's monetary situation was complicated by the coexistence of Italian lira-denominated instruments, German occupation policy, and the partisan economic sphere operating in parallel.

Janez Trpin's involvement is notable — he was a Slovenian graphic artist whose work on this series represents one of the few occupation-period issues with a locally credited designer rather than an imported plate.
