This issue belongs to Moldova's ongoing commemorative church series, which has documented Orthodox religious architecture across the country since the early 2000s. The St. George the Great-Martyr church in Chișinău traces its congregation to the nineteenth century, though the current structure's history intersects with the Soviet period, during which religious property across the Moldavian SSR was confiscated, repurposed, or demolished outright. Survival of parish communities through that era was uneven and largely dependent on local administrative tolerance.
KM#182 was struck at a reported mintage typical of Moldovan silver commemoratives — generally under 500 pieces — making secondary-market appearances infrequent.
