| Additional information |
Mihail Berezovschi (1868–1940) was a Moldovan Orthodox priest and cultural figure whose advocacy for Romanian-language liturgy and education put him at odds with both Tsarist and Soviet authorities at different points in his life. This issue is part of the National Bank of Moldova's ongoing commemorative program celebrating figures of national cultural heritage — a series that has expanded significantly since the mid-2000s as Moldova worked to codify a distinct national identity separate from broader Soviet-era historiography.
