背面描述 A detailed architectural rendering of the Măzărache Church of Chișinău occupies the central field, depicted in three-quarter perspective and showcasing the 18th-century Orthodox stone structure with its characteristic bell tower, arched windows, entrance portico, and crosses surmounting the domes and gables. The inscription sec. XVIII appears in the upper left field, denoting the church's century of construction. The two-line legend BISERICA MĂZĂRACHE DIN CHIȘINĂU is inscribed across the lower portion of the field in bold Latin characters against the polished proof background.

附加信息

The Măzărache Church — officially the Church of the Nativity of Christ — is among the oldest surviving stone structures in Chișinău, built in 1752 during a period when the city was a modest Moldavian market town under Ottoman suzerainty. It takes its informal name from the Măzărache family, local merchants who funded its construction. The building survived Soviet-era demolitions that erased much of old Chișinău, including the near-total destruction of the historic city center after the 1940 earthquake and wartime bombardment.

Moldova's commemorative silver program has frequently turned to pre-Soviet architectural survivors as subjects — a pointed choice given how few remain.
