To the left of the effigy, the birth and death years '1673' and '1723' are inscribed in two lines. To the right, an open scroll inscribed 'DESCRIPTIO MOLDAVIAE', referencing Cantemir's seminal geographical and historical treatise, is depicted alongside a laurel branch above.
