Reverse description The reverse features a draped bust of Dimitrie Cantemir facing slightly left, rendered in high relief with elaborate period attire and a long curled wig in the Baroque manner befitting his early 18th-century stature as Prince of Moldavia and polymath scholar. To the left of the effigy, the birth and death years '1673' and '1723' are inscribed in two lines. To the right, an open scroll inscribed 'DESCRIPTIO MOLDAVIAE', referencing Cantemir's seminal geographical and historical treatise, is depicted alongside a laurel branch above. The curved legend 'DIMITRIE CANTEMIR' runs along the lower periphery in decorative Gothic-style lettering, flanked by lozenge stops.
