Moldova's National Bank has issued a long-running series of collector coins dedicated to native flora and fauna, largely aimed at the European numismatic market rather than domestic circulation. The Anemone hepatica — liverleaf, a small woodland flower protected under Moldovan law — was added to the country's Red Book of endangered species, which directly prompted its inclusion in the series.
